OnePlus is getting ready to unveil a new duo of smartphones called OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. These devices have been the target of multiple leaks in recent weeks. We actually have a clear picture of what they will look like thanks to the many leaked renders. Moreover, some specifications are circulating on the internet thanks to many rumors. In the past month we saw the OnePlus 8 Pro – model number IN2023 released via GeekBench with Snapdragon 865. Now a second device, presumably the vanilla OnePlus 8 with IN2025 model number, has done the same with the same chipset.
The score of the Snapdragon 865 may seem very impressive. However, please note that these scores above are based on GeekBench 4.0. Today, most benchmarks in the platform are run with GeekBench 5.0 that uses different number standards. Nevertheless, we can already assume that both variants will have comparable performances. However, it is different on the RAM side.
Although the Pro version has 12 GB of RAM, it is full of 8 GB of RAM. That does not mean that the vanilla version does not get a 12GB RAM flavor, but for now we have only confirmed the 8GB version. According to rumors, OnePlus may make the leap to the new trending 16 GB RAM with the McLaren edition of the end of 2020.
Currently, one of the most important questions is whether OnePlus will reserve the 120Hz screen for the Pro model, keeping the vanilla device at 90Hz, or whether both models will use the new panel. Rumors also indicate that a new 50W charger is coming, perhaps in both variants. According to rumors, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are announced at the end of March or April instead of the usual unveiling in May.
